Last month when I traveled to California for Photo Field Trip, my friend Natasha and I decided to use our last day on the west coast to explore Santa Barbara. The weather was gorgeous, so we rented a convertible to tootle around in...you know, like we imagine true Californians do. Santa Barbara is the most beautiful place I've ever seen. One day wasn't enough to truly soak it all in, but we tried.
A local recommended we go to the courthouse and walk up to the tower to get 360 degree views of the city, and I'm so glad we did it. It was breathtaking up there. I loved all the little houses on the tops of the mountains!
We also trekked over to the Mission, something I'm actually somewhat familiar with because I've painted a couple of maps of Santa Barbara! We didn't have time to go inside, but I'm glad I got to see the facade.
We then walked down to the ocean and ate lunch on the water, walked out on the pier, and took a few last photos before heading to the airport. Lately when I daydream I find myself on airbnb looking at the places available in the area for future vacations. Santa Barbara, I haven't seen the last of you (I hope!)
