I love March. In in the south, it's a transition month from winter into spring. Sometimes we'll have a freaky cold snap this late in the season, but it's rare. Mostly this month can be described just like one of my favorite quotes from "Great Expectations," "It was one of those March days when the sun shines hot and the wind blows cold: when it is summer in the light, and winter in the shade." In a word: perfect. Here's what else I'm loving about this month:
St. Patrick's Day. I wish we had time to trek down to Savannah to celebrate properly, but we'll likely stick around town instead. I really want to come up with a shamrock-inspired card to sell in the shop, but I put it on the back burner because, does anyone really send snail mail for St. Patty's? If you do, please let me know.
Girlfriend time and a sleepover. My friend Lindsay will be in town all the way from Belgium, and I can't wait to see her. It's strange -- because of social media and gchat, I feel like I "see" her and talk to her all the time. The Internet is great that way. Of course, nothing beats having those you love in your own zip code again! We're going to get a hotel in Atlanta with a couple of our other friends and eat and drink and giggle and have some girl time. It's going to be the best, and I can't wait.
Moving forward. I love the spring time change and moving our clocks up one hour. When the sun is out longer every day, I notice I'm happier. And we're moving forward in another way at the end of the month -- we meet with our doctor again to discuss new ways to get this baby train rolling. I'm always nervous about these "big" appointments, even though I know I probably shouldn't be. Good vibes and prayers appreciated...for my sanity and for this whole
exhausting baby thing to maybe happen sometime soon? Feeling a lot like this on the subject lately.
Weather changes. Having the sun stick around means I want to be outside as much as possible. Dusting my bike off for a nice long ride is happening in my immediate future. Runs and walks through the trails, yard work and some back porch lounging are all new to me again, and I can't get enough. I'm looking forward to being outside a lot this month.
Wardrobe changes. March weather translates to scarves with capris, long sleeves with shorts and open-toed shoes. Anything goes and you have a lot of options, which is nice. And zero humidity! There's so much to love.
What are you looking forward to this month? Happy March! -- Natty
