Happy Friday! I'm so glad the weekend is here. We have some fun things planned, like seeing friends in Atlanta and brunching with my in-laws. It's going to be a good one.
Things in the shop have been busy lately -- wedding season is definitely upon us! I just signed up for an 8 week letterpress class with my friend Margot who owns Smokey Road Press in town. I start in April, and I'm so excited to learn and hopefully collaborate with her on a small line this year. I've always been "nervous" to jump into the whole formal wedding invitation thing, because as I know all to well, brides take wedding stuff super seriously. Sometimes maybe too seriously? It makes me nervous. I feel like making invitations for smaller events, like showers and luncheons, has been my safe place for awhile. Maybe after Margot teaches me a thing or two, I'll feel like I know the in's and out's a little better and feel comfortable diving in head-first.
My newest card design, the show horse up there, needs a banner with a caption, I think! Any ideas? I am the worst with coming up with these things. That's why most of my shop just features my artwork with little to no words -- I'm not that witty. I've always had a thing for vintage show horse ribbons, and I found the most beautiful photo of a show horse via Pinterest that I was dying to draw. I'm thinking the banner should be along the lines of "Congrats!" "You're the best!" -- although, maybe something a little more interesting than that.
I hope y'all have a great weekend. Here are a few things worth mentioning from the Web this week:
An impulse buy I can't wait to sport this summer.
Houses like these are the reason why I like estate sales -- sometimes houses are perfectly preserved!
Lupita Nyong'o fan art. I love them all.
See y'all next week -- Natty
