It's Friday! What are you guys up to this weekend? I have an itch to redo my office. I'm thinking white walls and eventually, a new white desk. Plus, I'd like to simplify things a little and de-clutter the space. I apologize all the time to my husband for being so wishy washy with decorating -- I'm always enjoying something for awhile, then feeling the need to change it a few months or a year down the road. Do any of you do this? A space in my house is never done forever. But I kinda like it that way.
Some of us are happier than others for the weekend to finally be here. For some of my friends in Atlanta, this has been a very long, insane last few days. I still can't believe what some of you had to go through to get home in the ice storm the other night -- running out of gas because you were in traffic for hours and hours, trekking home by foot for miles, sleeping in cars overnight in freezing temperatures. I can't imagine. Some of the worst stories were of the children trapped at schools, leaving parents with no way to get to them. My heart broke for those parents -- how helpless they must have felt. Of course, the human spirit truly shines in the midst of adversity. The stories of people opening up their homes to strangers or walking miles with water, food and blankets to give to those stranded on the highways still brings tears to my eyes. A crisis can truly bring out the best in people. Sometimes all we have to rely on is each other in this crazy world!
We live far outside the perimeter of the city, so thankfully we were able to stay out of the madness during the storm. James did have to commute home in the morning an hour north of us, but the roads weren't nearly as bad as those in Atlanta. We are safe and sound, thank goodness, and I hope all of you are, too.
After the snow was over, I bundled up only long enough to snap a picture of our house, then I ran back inside where it was warm.
We southerners really love the snow -- it's so rare that we get anything worth talking about down here. Did any of you get out and play in it this week? I've really enjoyed flipping through wintery Instagrams over the last few days...
I hope you all have a great weekend. See y'all back here next week -- in February! --Natty
