Mom's 60th Birthday Tea Moodboard

This Sunday I'm throwing my mom a ladies' tea to celebrate her 60th birthday, and I'm pretty excited about it. Since it's just me hosting, I'm getting a little help with the food from my sister-in-law who runs a cute little restaurant in town, Lumpkin Cafe, and Jessica at Heirloom. I am making the rest of the food myself, including a few kinds of tea sandwiches and cheesecake-filled strawberries -- yum! Also, did you know that in England, people add cream to their tea? I didn't know until the other day. I guess I should buy a small carton just in case anyone wants to get fancy!

For the decor, I'm thinking bud vases with fall blooms, maybe a little greenery and pheasant feathers, with a photo wreath filled with pictures of my mom from over the years. I also made some stirrers with Washi tape flags! They are so cute and easy -- I'm going to make some more for Thanksgiving and Christmas, too.

I can't wait to see my mom and all of her friends this Sunday -- they're such a fun crowd! I'll be sure to post photos here after the party...

  2. Definitely get some cream. Thanks to a former coworker, who was English as could be, I love my tea with cream now. Your guests will appreciate trying it English tea style.

  3. What a fun plan! It sounds (and looks) adorable. It's nice to know that, of all people, your mother will surely appreciate all the effort and planning that went into her party. Happy Birthday to her and I hope you all have a great time! I can't wait to see the photos afterwards :)
