Happy Friday, y'all. It's been awhile since I've written one of these "odds & ends" posts, and I have to say when I typed in the date I had to sit and pause for a second. The year is already almost half over, and I can't believe it!
Thank you to all of you who sent me little notes (and a couple of phone calls) of love regarding Monday's post. I want to say that I have way more good days than bad concerning my fertility issues, and it's true. I have so much to be thankful for, and I know it. The waiting and hoping and not knowing is just so exhausting. And the hardest day is the one when you know your cycle has officially ended. Wouldn't it be nice if it was so easy for everyone to get what they wish for right when they want it? This post by one of my favorite bloggers (and the long thread of comments) has really put things into perspective for me this week, and it couldn't have come at a better time. (Also, this.) Things could always be so much worse. Always, for everyone. Everyone has their cross to bear or their own personal source of pain. I keep telling myself that it's how I handle the pain that's most important. I don't want it to consume me (and it hasn't.) But like anything else, when you want something, you want it. And I know that I may have many more long months to go before I get what I want, but rest assured...I'll get it eventually. Uterus be damed.
But I think I've talked enough about waging a war on my uterus this week, right? On a lighter note...I hope you all have a fun weekend planned. What are you up to? Tonight I am hosting a game night with some friends I met through Meetup (have you all ever used that site before?) A friend of mine from high school got me into it, and the group I'm in is lots of fun. The last time I saw most of these ladies was at the botanical garden back in May, so I'm looking forward to seeing some of their faces tonight. Tomorrow I'm off to Atlanta to celebrate my friend Megan and her baby-to-be, and to see my mama and her friends as they work the summer retail show at the Mart downtown. I'm secretly hoping to run into my HGTV girl crush while I'm there -- she announced that she'll be speaking earlier in the day on her Facebook page a couple of weeks ago. Squee! That would be so cool.
Have a lovely weekend friends...and per the usual, here's what caught my eye this week:
1. A piece of Claire Desjardins' "How to Make a Cake" (best title I've ever seen for abstract art)
2. This mug is keeping me happy while "Mad Men" is on their -- last! sob -- hiatus of the series
3. Sometimes when I see beautiful, sleek spaces like these, I rethink my design concept and want to redo my whole house (impossible, but fun to daydream about)
5. Still in love with these paper garlands by Natalie Shriver via LA Blogshop's setup. I'm inspired to make something similar for an upcoming craft show...
6. New book that's on my wish list: "Find & Keep" by Beci Orpin
And a few other things worth noting from the last few weeks across the web:
I never believed this icky brown chair could be remade into something so pretty!
Disney princesses in historically accurate outfits by Claire Hummel
World War Z was so good (have you seen it yet?) and now I'm reading the book
After taking Rachel Denbow's home tour, I feel the curious urge to go thrifting...
And last but not least, Natty got a little makeover this week. What do you think about the new look?
Have a great weekend, friends!
