Odds and ends 5/9/13

Oh, this week! It has had its ups and downs, but more ups than downs, so we will mark this one as a success. I've hired the fabulous Natasha Murphy of Nicely Built web design -- a friend of mine I met through Blogshop in Atlanta last November -- to design a new e-commerce website for all things Natty Michelle Paperie. I can hardly contain my excitement -- Natty's getting a grown-up website at last! (Making things happen, one by one, and checking them off my list. Take the time to write your dreams and goals down. I swear it makes them more tangible.) I am spending all my free time daydreaming about what I want the site to look like -- fonts, colors, categories, photos, etc. It's a little overwhelming...but also a lot of fun.

This week was also when James and I decided to take our next step in this frustrating journey of ours to start a family. IT arrived yesterday, and once again I felt negative and sad about the whole thing. After almost a year and a half, I've started expecting that IT will show up at the end of my cycle, so I can't really say I'm ever that surprised to see it anymore. That doesn't mean the process gets any easier to deal with, though. I am starting my first round of Clomid this weekend, and we're crossing our fingers that things work out for us in the next few months. I'm personally not thrilled to be taking a fertility drug, but I've decided I want to give it a try. And to be honest, my impatience is starting to get the best of me. Have any of you taken Clomid, or know someone who has? I have friends and family who have had success taking it, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. And I am a little apprehensive of the drugs' side effects, but I'm hoping none of them are too terribly bad. Crossing our fingers that this works for us. Only time will tell.

What are you all up to this weekend? We have a full weekend planned -- tomorrow morning I will be at the Athens Farmers + Craft Market selling my NMP goods, including new magnets and bags, which will make great last-minute gifts for your mamas! (Locals, come by and say hi!) And speaking of your mamas, you can still download my Mother's Day card printables right here. I plan on giving one to my mom and mother-in-law when we see them this weekend. We will be eating dinner in Atlanta with my mom and Mary Mac's Tea Room at her request, and will be having brunch Sunday morning with my mother-in-law at Last Resort in Athens. Remind myself not to weigh myself on Monday morning -- oof!

Before I go, I wanted to share...

A few things that caught my eye this week:

1. This painting by Karen Smidth is making me long for Isle of Palms in the summertime.

2.  ...And this print by Jen Renninger is serving as a daily reminder that everything really will be ok.

3. I need to host a party just because this Gumpy Cat Pinata by Whack is too great for words.

4. So happy for Dutch Door Press -- their "Birds and Blooms of the 50 States" is in bookstores now!

5. A must-have tee for summer -- and any time, really: Dirty Dancing t-shirt by Andy Taray

6. My studio needs: this Flamingo Tape Dispenser by Zoology via Anthropologie

And a few other things worth sharing:

My friend Amber and I are attending the Maiedae Mixer June 1 -- who else wants to join us?

Jimmy Fallon's Hashtag game: Mother's Day edition (hilarious)

Grand Central's life-size dollhouse (er, house?)

"Rules for Life" by The Bloggess

Watch this documentary online for free -- I am so inspired by these women!

Have a wonderful weekend and Mother's Day, friends ♥ Big love to you all!
