Well, the Mister and I are finally ready for Christmas. Right now as I blog, James is ironing and listening to old John Denver records (is there anything better than this song?), and it's raining outside. I always welcome dreary, wet days, and if we can't have a white Christmas, I'm ok with it being dark and rainy instead. Something about this kind of weather makes me feel super warm and cozy inside. And I like that.
We are trekking to my Aunt and Uncle's house today for dinner (chili and cornbread, yum!), and we're attending their Christmas Eve candlelight church service later tonight. My parents and brother will come back to our house afterwards, and I'm really looking forward to having them here for a couple of days. (I love having company...it means my house is clean! I don't know if I would ever clean if we didn't have company all the time. How bad is that? Domestic diva I am not.)
So far I've baked this chocolate loaf and made a big bowl of Reindeer Food (also known as White Trash...or as James and I joked last night, Honey Boo Boo food. Haa). The beds are made with flannel sheets, because it's finally cold enough in Georgia to sleep with them -- sort of. It could always be a little colder, but we'll take what we can get. My table is set with my mason jar snow globes and the mini Mini as a centerpiece, and my gnome place cards sit at every place setting. We're having 11 people tomorrow night for dinner, and I can't wait to see everyone!
Christmas Day we're going to have a traditional ham, green bean casserole, and I'm making this mac + cheese for the first time. Mostly I'm looking forward to hanging out with family all day, drinking a couple of mimosas, and of course -- opening gifts! As you can see above, Bianca is already wondering which ones are her's.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, too!
