Ashley and Chris's wedding took place under huge oak trees -- dripping with pretty Spanish moss -- on the steps of the Bragg Mitchell Mansion in Mobile, Alabama. It was warm, but relief was provided by none other than my hand-painted fans! (woo!) It was kinda neat to look around and see over a hundred people waving away with fans that I made. The ceremony was so sweet, and the party to follow was even better. (The dance party never goes late enough, in my opinion, but it was a blast while it lasted.)
This trip made me realize how lucky I am to have such a fun bunch of friends, but also sad that we can't see each other nearly as often since we're spread out all over the country. It's getting harder and harder for all of us to get together at one place at one time, and it's even more of a challenge for us to catch up in between annual visits on the phone. (Who else is terrible about catching up with friends on the phone? The last time I was good at it was maybe when I was 16.) It's inevitable that as you get older, you take on new responsibilities, move, life changes and friends may grow apart -- even when you don't want that to happen. As much as I try to live in the moment during these special occasions, the weekends fly by so fast...sometimes I wish I could hit a pause button and enjoy every second just a little bit more with some of the people I love most.
OK, sorry to get all emo on you guys! Have a happy weekend -- what are you guys up to? Two guesses what the Mister and I will be doing (thrifting) and (brunching). We've been on a bit of a hiatus regarding these two things, and we're a little excited to dive in head first tomorrow morning.
Have fun! xo
