Why do we judge our friends' weddings?

We're all guilty of doing it.

Judging a friend on her wedding day, that is. Whether it's the Jon Bon Jovi track that's played as the bride walks down the aisle or the rice thrown as the couple leaves the church (because it hurts the birds, of course) -- we've all thought something a little bit snarky on a friend's wedding day...right?

But why do we think these nasty little thoughts? What's behind all the gossip, and why do we compare ourselves to others? After all, aren't the unique parts of a wedding the best parts? Weddings would be a snooze fest if they were all alike.

I recently wrote a piece about this for TLC Weddings -- read it here, if you so desire!

And of course, I'd love to hear -- why do you think we judge our friends' weddings?

(Disclaimer: there is nothing wrong with playing Jon Bon Jovi during a wedding ceremony...)
