How was everyone's weekend? This weekend we celebrated James's 33rd birthday, and I made his favorite dinner (stovetop chicken pot pie) and this delicious frozen birthday cake. I was also an Athfest art judge Saturday afternoon downtown, and it was so much fun! I met so many talented, nice people, and was inspired at every turn. The winners included this amazing painter and this rockstar guitar designer (check out his Georgia Theater guitar here. How incredible is that?!). I also went home with a little loot, too, after my judging gig was over. Cue these cute gals and their picture frames made from restored wood, and Lisa Kerns' jaw-dropping jewelry. It was an awesome experience.
As some of you know, Georgia has experienced quite the rainstorms lately, and James and I couldn't be more giddy at the (natural) chance to revive our thirsty plants and (dead) grass. We decided that our enthusiasm over the rain is a sure sign that we're getting older. As the black clouds rolled in yesterday evening, we sat on our porch and watched, enjoying the cooler temperatures before the rain started falling. We love our outdoor space, but it still needs a lot of work. Lately I am obsessed with finding images on Pinterest to inspire new ideas. My new favorite things are succulents, and I want to plant them everywhere -- inside and out. Other ideas include stringing mason jars with tea lights through the trees, paving the back patio area with cottage-style stones, and finding the perfect --yet affordable-- bistro red and white tablecloth for our outdoor table. It's all about the thrill of the hunt, people. And I will definitely keep y'all updated on our progress!
