Thinking Man Tavern

3. Have a beer at The Thinking Man's Tavern

Saturday night, James and I trekked over to Thinking Man's Tavern in Decatur to have a beer with our friends Pana and Jayce. We were ecstatic not only to find that the music was low enough to enjoy each other's company and conversation, (the food* was tasty, too) but even better, they had board games. We spotted an entire bookshelf at the back of the bar dedicated to Outburst, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, Apples to Apples, Battleship, etc. etc. etc. We all love a good board game, so we ordered a round of beers (note: Yuengling in cans - awesome) and played Apples to Apples, followed by a short stint of 80's Trivial Pursuit, (note: just because you're born in '81, '82 or '83 doesn't mean you know a lot about that decade), rounded out by a competitive boys vs. girls game of Outburst. The boys won, even though we gave them a run for their money. We had a blast.

*Seriously, how awesome is a "Late Night Menu?" Where was this idea when I was in college? 2 am would always come way too quickly, and the mission to stay up late enough to meet the pizza man at the door (mmm, Pokey Stix) was often a huge challenge...
