Chili on the first chilly night of the season

Brrrr, when did the cold weather just decide to zip into Atlanta all of the sudden after all of these 90 degree heat waves?! To celebrate, James and I took a nice, long brisk walk around the neighborhood, and came home to a nice pot of chili I had cooking all afternoon. The recipe is my mom's and really simple. If you're like me, you might only be cooking for 2, so freeze leftovers to enjoy on another chilly evening!
  • 1 sweet onion, chopped
  • 3 pounds ground sirloin
  • 3 cans of diced tomatoes (my fave are seasoned with garlic and onion)
  • 2 cans of kidney beans
  • 2 packets of the seasoning of your choice
  • Cook ground sirloin, drain, and mix in chopped onion and seasoning in a Crock Pot. Drain kidney beans, and add to the meat mixture. Add in the tomatoes, (do not drain). Cook on low for 4-6 hours, and voila! Hot, tasty chili.
