Our Wedding Reception

After it was over, James and I both agreed that our reception was the most perfect evening of our lives. It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime feeling to be surrounded by everyone you love, all in one place! James and I danced to Ray LaMontagne's You Are the Best Thing, my dad and I danced to the traditional My Girl, by The Temptations, and James and his mom danced to God Only Knows by The Beach Boys.

I crafted a few items at our wedding, including my cake topper (I bought the DIY kit via Naked Peggies), the peacock feather guest book pen, the menus, and our guest book filled with pictures of James and me growing up through the years, with the last few pages filled with photos since we met in 2006.

Our cakes were stunning; James's R2D2 was quite the hit of the party; there were several grown men who got a picture next to the little guy, and James's nephew, our ring bearer, Brady, kept running up to James, whispering excitedly, "I saw your cake!!" They were delicious, too. Cecilia and her team really outdid themselves.

Throughout the night, everyone had a good time dancing to the music our DJ played - everything from GAGA to Come on Eileen to Just Like Heaven. And can I just say, I adore all of our friends. There wasn't an empty spot on the dance floor until the reception was over. James and I said the only way to measure how awesome a reception was is by how much people dance, and all we really wanted was for our wedding to turn into one giant dance party. It was the best one I've ever been to, if I do say so myself.

The night flew by so fast (like everyone told me it would), and before long it was time for the traditional bouquet and garter toss. (Both were hilarious with people elbowing and throwing each other out of the way to get their hands on whatever was being thrown). Then it was time to dance to the last song, Michael Buble's Save the Last Dance for Me, and we were off, in a sea of bubbles, waving to everyone as we sped away in the Mini. (...to The Varsity, for onion rings!)
A magical day, and a magical evening. Overall, absolutely perfect.
