An Amazing, Edible White House:

Did anyone watch the Oprah special last night about Christmas at the White House? It was a great hour of tv. I am not ashamed to say my favorite segment was on the 2009 White House Gingerbread House. I was gaping at my tv - the huge replica of the Executive Mansion is covered in white chocolate, includes a mini garden made of marzipan, and a shadow-box view into the State Dining Room, complete with a working chandelier and chocolate furniture. In front of the house is little Bo, First Dog! No tiny detail was forgotten. I also did not know that the White House Gingerbread House is an annual tradition that dates back to 1969 during the Nixon administration. I did some Googling on past White House gingerbread houses, and I was in awe of how neat they all are. What a cool Christmas tradition.
